What is The Soapy Group?

The Soapy Group is all about clear thinking and fresh ideas to help small businesses with their marketing needs.

The Soapy Group is a marketing company specialising in the delivery of clear campaigns and strategies to small businesses and organisations across Yorkshire and the UK. As a collaboration of media and marketing professionals, we strive to help SMEs make the most of their brand’s potential. We want small businesses to thrive.

Based near York, we are situated right in the middle of the busy market town of Pocklington, in amongst an array of small and family-run companies. We truly believe independent businesses are the beating heart of the UK’s economy, which is why we are passionate about working with SMEs of all shapes and sizes.

Our mantra: Raise The Bar. It’s all about pushing ideas that little bit further and going above and beyond the call of duty to help businesses grow. Whether you just need help with your social media or a full brand overhaul, we manage projects with these values in mind: Professionalism, creativity and fresh ideas.

Simon Hudson

Managing Director

Simon our MD has been around the media industry for longer than he wants to admit. “I have helped promote radio stations, worked on marketing furniture, cars, cranes, and the list continues to grow. Simon has also produced events the last 20 years including Cancer Research UK and Millennium celebrations for up to 20,000 people as a highlight.

The marketing and media sector has in the last few years grown ever closer and with digital marketing at the forefront of business promotion, Simon has researched and implemented a clean and fresh range of services to help SMEs promote themselves in this busy and constantly changing market.

“Without making it seem like a story line from The A Team, I have assembled a crack team of experts who are working hard to help small businesses and large well-known brands – just without explosions, flying cabbages and car chases”.

Sophie Metcalfe

Creative Director

Sophie has over a decade’s experience working across print, broadcast and digital media. A former broadcast journalist and digital radio content manager, Sophie has huge respect for small business owners having worked alongside countless SMEs across Yorkshire.

“Becoming a newsreader was my goal in life when I was a kid. When I achieved that at the age of 22, I realised my true ambition was to be a leader, not just of my own business but also by helping other businesses grow.”

Her artistic talents have led her to take a creative-led approach to marketing and graphic design.

Sophie is a salsa dancer, snowboarder, cyclist and terrible cook.

Bradley Metcalfe

Web Developer and Digital Marketing Assistant

Bradley graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in IT and Digital Media and instantly gained work placement at The Soapy Group. After only a few weeks, he was offered the full time position as Digital Marketing Assistant, helping with creative and digital implementation.

Bradley’s focus is on designing great looking and functional websites and supporting the team with a variety of roles.

He jumps in to anything that allows him to be creative in interesting ways – from CAD design to playing guitar.

Chewy

Office Morale Manager

Chewy is our Office Morale Manager and is working on a strategic plan for employees to have fun, take breaks and is up for the odd bout of ‘tug of war’.

A firm office and client favourite who gets far too much attention. His employment contract was a challenge but we are so pleased Chewy chose to join the Soapy Team.

The Soapy Group is proud to support IDAS.
