A blog post about blog posts; how meta. I wanted to take some time to write about how a blog post can help your website rank higher on search engines. When I first started at Soapy I didn’t realise how helpful they really are to the ranking of your website. The truth is that the higher you are on Google, the more likely you are to get visitors to your website. Let me explain why blog posts can help!

The way Google ranks your website is by using bots. These bots read your website to determine what your site is about and how useful it is to the user. I will give an example! If you are an electrician in York, you would want to be using as many keywords as possible on your website that relate to what people would be searching to find you. This is where blog posts come in. If your blog post is relevant to your website, business and uses correct keywords, then it will help with ranking.

At The Soapy Group, we tend to write our own blog posts about websites and marketing because, firstly, it is what we know, and secondly, it will help our ranking on Google.

There is a second reason why it helps with ranking. Googles bots are basically notified when there have been some changes to a website. Google really likes this! A website that is updated on a regular basis is a positive because it means the information for the user remains relevant. If you leave your website stagnant and not doing anything, it will surely die a slow web death.

I also think a blog post is a great way of showing that you know what you’re talking about. It’s a type of thought leadership. It lets your audience see that you have knowledge that they may not have and you’re sharing it to help them.

Look, I know that we aren’t all amazing writers, but a short blog post can really go a long way! If blog post writing isn’t your thing and you would like some help get in touch today!
