The Soapy Group is celebrating after being shortlisted for ‘Best Micro Business’ at the Brand Yorkshire awards 2019.

The announcement comes as the company heads towards the end of another whirlwind year, having gained a number of major accounts including Vangarde Shopping Park and UK mortgage broker Linear Financial Solutions in the last twelve months.

Creative Director Sophie Metcalfe says: “2019 has been a really exciting year for the team. We take a huge amount of pride in the quality of work we are able to produce for all our clients.

“Our aim is to provide top class marketing strategy to SMEs ready to take the next step in growth. Being shortlisted for such a prestigious business award shows we really punch above our weight. I could not be prouder of our achievements”

The Soapy Group is a family-run marketing firm that’s grown from the directors’ dining room table to a five-strong team working with the likes of Cancer Research UK, model railway heavyweights Metcalfe Models and York-based Wall of Sound.

Acquiring the marketing account for Vangarde Shopping Park gained a huge amount of kudos for The Soapy Group in 2019. In the first three months, the firm injected a huge creative boost into the retail park’s brand, growing the online audience by nearly 50% – and now maintaining a whopping monthly reach of over 75-thousand people in the York area on Facebook alone.

Vangarde Centre Manager, Debs O’Donnell gives high praise: “The Soapy Group has seamlessly adopted the Vangarde brand values and been able to grow the reach online significantly in a short space of time.

“In the five months we have been working with them team, we have seen a social media audience increase of over 30% which continues to grow every day. For a small agency, it’s exciting to see what they can do moving forward with their creative and strategic efforts.”

Another key account is Metcalfe Models & Toys, a Yorkshire manufacturer of model railway kits. Over three years, The Soapy Group has successfully snowballed an online community of model railway enthusiasts, with members as far as New Zealand, Australia, Canada and across Europe.

The directors have always maintained a goal of developing young people, having employed graduates on the basis of allowing them to progress in creative or technical areas they prefer.

The Soapy Group is keen to continue to employ local people from the Pocklington and wider areas, ensuring they get the same opportunities as inner-city or larger agencies. The firm is incredibly passionate about supporting equal opportunities, along with supporting causes such as York Mind and IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services).

The Brand Yorkshire awards ceremony takes place on 5 December in Harrogate.
